Tierdrop is a small, independent project run from the UK. This page explains what we store, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.
What we store
Your list. The titles you rank, which bucket each goes in, and your “better or worse?” answers. It’s kept in your browser and backed up to our database under a random ID, even before you save it with an email. That backup is what lets it sync.
Your email address, if you save your list or sign in. We only use it to send you sign-in links. No newsletters, no marketing.
Your username and friends, if you choose a username and add people.
Your region for “Out now”. We work it out from your IP address when you first visit, using our host’s built-in lookup. We don’t store your IP address.
What we don’t do
No ads, no analytics, no tracking. We never sell your data or share it for marketing.
No tracking cookies. Your browser keeps your list and your sign-in in local storage, which the site needs in order to work.
Who can see what
Your list is visible to you, and to friends you accept. Nobody else.
The Community leaderboard shows your username and how many titles you’ve ranked, if you have a username. You can turn this off on the You tab, under Friends.
Global rankings are pooled from saved lists. They show titles, never people.
Services that handle your data
We use these companies to run Tierdrop. They process data on our behalf and only for that purpose.
Supabase (database and sign-in), hosted in London. Stores everything listed above. Its logs include IP addresses.
Vercel (hosting), running in London. Serves the site and keeps short-lived logs that include IP addresses.
Resend (email), sending from Ireland. Sees your email address when it sends you a sign-in link.
Cloudflare Turnstile checks that sign-ins come from people, not bots. It sees your IP address and basic browser details.
TMDB provides film and TV data. Posters load straight from TMDB’s servers, so they see your IP address, as any site serving an image would. We never send TMDB anything about you.
Some of these are US companies. Where your data is handled outside the UK, it’s covered by their data protection terms.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it.
Deleting your data
Delete my data, at the bottom of the You tab, permanently removes your list, comparisons, username, friends and email from our database and from your browser, straight away. It works whether or not you ever saved your list.
Or email privacy@tierdrop.co.uk and we’ll do it for you.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email privacy@tierdrop.co.uk. If you’re unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
